I love this post Diamantino! You are ahead of the curve as usual and pointed out real drawbacks to the AI era we find ourselves in. It is hard to 'be yourself' if the AI models you use wash 'you' out of the mix. They homogenize, sanitize and trivialize what makes you unique.
That being said I do think that having open weight self hosted or trust hosted models with open source harnesses is the future. I still have Claude myself but I think it's time is also waning in my toolkit.
Yeah, I have my local setup that I use for research, although for professional reasons I need to know how to use Claude, Gemini, etc... but all do the same thing, with a bit of enhances here and there.
Im really glad to hear you are using local models. More people need to hear this message and get on board. It's an easy way to take power back from the AI providers.
I'm using LibreChat with some other integrations. But even Jan.ai is an easy way to add LLMs models. Still I'm enjoying it, and when comercial models come up with a new feature, I start investigating and there's always an open source alternative. Requires some time to setup.
I sometimes think if one day there will be a huge purge of all the AI content created out there... any one remember Geocities?
It will be difficult, the mess is already done. It's our mess.
